Group Safety & Sustainability Coördinator

In this position, you will be responsible for safety performance within this international organization and the associated safety culture. Through your enthusiastic communication, you try to get everyone on board to make all sites a safe workplace. On the other hand, you will play a crucial role in developing, implementing and managing sustainability strategies and initiatives. You will report to the Group Operational Excellence Manager.

Your responsibilities

As a health & safety coordinator 

• You must have a healthy combination of technical knowledge and interpersonal skills. Together with your colleagues, you develop and implement a safety strategy. This is done by organizing group safety meetings and leading discussions about safety issues and improvements. 
• You will help build a safety policy that complies with regulations and industry standards, which you then implement and enforce throughout the organization together with the relevant teams. 
• You identify and report on system weaknesses. Through risk analyses in the workplace, you help the organisation to limit the risks. 
• In the event of an accident, incident, near-miss or injury in the workplace, you will support the local teams that investigate the root cause and implement measures to prevent a recurrence.

As a sustainability coordinator

• Together with the senior management, develop and implement long-term sustainability strategy and goals.
• Together with the units, you manage and implement sustainability programs, with a focus on reducing environmental impacts such as carbon footprint, water consumption, and emissions.
• Ensure the organization complies with the CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) requirements, which include detailed sustainability reporting on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors.
• Report on sustainability topics on platforms like CDP (Carbon Disclosure Program) and Evocadis. Answer questions coming from government agencies, non-profits, customers, and other sustainability stakeholders.
• You will provide regular reporting and updates to management or external bodies on the status of health & safety and sustainability within the organization.
• In addition, you will regularly carry out internal audits and support health & safety and sustainability training and introductions for new employees.

Your profile

• You have a bachelor's or master’s degree in a technical specialization and 5 years of experience in a production environment. 
• Having a diploma as a prevention advisor is not a must, but experience in working within an environment where safety is central is. 
• You have knowledge of safety management principles and methodologies.
• Knowledge of sustainability principles and methodologies (CSRD, carbon footprint) is a plus.
• You are fluent in Dutch and English.
• You are willing to spend 1 week out of 4 abroad for your job.
• Analytical skills: you are able to analyze data and identify key metrics
• Project management: skills to manage projects and initiatives effectively
• You are a real team player! You engage with the business units and other stakeholders to work together and can persuade them to take necessary action.
